Waterbed Update

I told my husband all I wanted for mothers day was a half whiskey barrel for my pond.....I am such a simple girl! (Being the sweetie of a husband he is , he went out of his way to make sure I got what I wanted!) See I had one but it fell apart....and if I had known how hard it was gonna be to find a new one I would have tried to put it back together! Anyway, we found one....so I put my waterfall liner in and added it to my water bed pond.
I got this idea from Cindees Garden last year.
I also added this .....
I just love the sound of water...and you can hear it all thru my backyard.

All of pets are rescues. Nellie the basset hound was living at a kennel, Nigel the black lab, showed up at our house looking like a bag of bones and ....Max...we adopted from the SPCA. Needless to say he is much happier now. They get along great and are very entertaining!In the words of my 4 year old neice neice Harley "dem is bessst friends"!

Yes I have a bad case of it.....I have been digging, plantin',seedin',potting, pulling and loving every minute of it!
As you may recall we have been in this home for a year now and the yard was pretty much a blank slate. We have put up 68pieces of privacy fence, built a barn and have started improving the one flower bed and making new ones.

I could work in the yard everyday as long as the weather is nice and IF I had an endless supply of money to buy plants!

This is just a peek at what I have done and now I need a truckload of mulch!

Now, I know what you are thinking.........last time we talked we were inside the house......tearing out walls and such...well ...... here is some progress
We can now eat at the table! Check out my chairs I got for 10$ each

I just gave a little paint, sanding and stain!

Here are a few more redos....

We still have to wrap the beam and the 4 x 4 column in the middle of the room ( my son calls it a primitive stripper pole!) but we had to put the inside stuff on hold.....to get some of the outside things done before it gets to hot. Now that we have finished the fence our dogs can run freely, so we wanted to get that done and most important
we are putting up the pool that we packed up and brought from the other house! We have it up and with the new liner it looks great. Now we have to add the deck that we also moved from the other house.....so when those really hot days get here we will have a place to chill!

Long Time Gone

Well now it is time to catch up. I have so much to show, tell and ask you about.

The photo above was taken on Wednesday morning when we awoke to snow! It is all gone today and will be in the high 60's this weekend. Hurry Spring....I am ready for you!!!!

Look at my trashy swap that I received from Janene.I was excited to have her for my partner, but also a little intimidated because as you all know she is the queen of Goodwill. I had to make sure I sent her something she did not already have.
I am loving everything she did for me and I can not wait to find a special place for each piece,
but it will have to wait a little bit because......

we have been letting the children write on the walls...Tearing out paneling and messy.messy sheet rock...

We tore out the yucky carpetand tossed it outside where Nigel thought it was a new bed.
Joey put in a beam where the load beading wall was

and a column....Well, it is just a 4x4 post right now but it will look nice when we wrap it up. Please excuse the mess, we just pushed furniture from one spot to another while we did the floor.....LOVE my new floor!(we put down 478 sq ft of it) We still have to do trim work, new lighting, replace that ugly door and if the budget allows....cover the ceiling in bead board.
So now 3 small rooms and the kitchen are all one open area. Our 18 year old son said "Mama this is like a whole new house!"
I have got my furniture in place and we are gonna bring my dining room table in from storage. I hope we still remember how to eat at a table! I can't wait to decorate...and show the big reveal of the whole area.
I Will be back to show you some made over furniture pieces.... and some curtains I am tyring to decide on....promise!

Good save ....uh? Really, time has just gone by to quickly. But before I take it down and pack it up I wanted to share a little with you.

Joey made this door box for me after I saw one one here Behind My Red Door. I Just love it....but my greens are looking a little tired.
Did you notice that we replaced the old metal post with the turned columns? I finally got them painted and Joey and I put them up on a cold Sunday. If you would like to see how our porch looked when we moved in click here.

Good Morning everyone!
Man... time is just flying by to fast!
I have been busy for the last 2 weeks decorating and cleaning. I have seriously downsized my Christmas decor....I have taken 4 big totes to the consignment shop.
My taste is much simpler now. I gotta get some pictures taken and give you a tour.
Joey and I have been married 22 years today!It is hard to believe it has been that long. He is a wonderful husband, Father and provider and I am so thankful for him. We always go Christmas shopping and treat ourselves to a dinner out.....so I am looking forward to a day out on the town!
Last year we toured a colonial home here in Eastern NC and of course I blogged about it.....but I know so many more of you now that I thought it would be a good idea to publish it again....so I hope you enjoy!

Liberty Hall Tour

On Saturday night we went to Kenansville (about 25 mins. away) for the candle light Christmas Tour at Historic Liberty Hall.It was built in the early 1800's, restored in 1964 and has been open for public tours since 1968.
I loved it...so many goodies to see, I snapped alot of pictures but some of my first ones were to dark...but still a lot to see.
It was cold and rainy....The Confederate Soldiers are guarding the Kenan House.
We first entered the music room....every Kean child was expected to play at least one musical instrument.
We sang along as a lady in period costume played the piano.We next saw the The ladies parlor which was pink...this is where the ladies would come after dinner to have tea and cookies and gossip I am sure!This is one of the Keanan girls wedding gown.Lot of greens were used in Christmas decorating....they were easy to get, freshen the house and most important ...the fresh greens were believed to keep out evil spirits.A child's high chair.Ribbon was hard to come by...so the more fruit and ribbon you displayed....you showed your wealth. This was a working plantation, so there was lots of food and during the holiday season...plenty was prepared for the guest.
Above is a warming closet made into the side of the chimney to keep food warm.
They also had these to put the ladies wraps and hats in so when they left to go home they were nice and warm to wrap up in.The main house was very nice...but I loved Martha's house. Martha was the family cook...and they say she could make a biscuit that would melt in your mouth. Martha came as a slave but was later given her freedom but stayed with the Kenan family. Because she loved them and they loved her. I love her little house...this is the inside. It was rainning so I did not get one of the outside >The well...The soliers gather by the fire Do you have some holly leaves....dry one and throw it into a roaring fire. It is said that all your troubles will wash away and your sins of the last year. This is what our tour guide told us as we stood round the fire and he passed the basket of holly leaves around for everyone to get a leave. I had only one thing to say "bring that basket back to me ...I need more leaves!!"

Just a little bit!
I finished this big guy last night and I was so happy with him I just had to show you.

He is a Tennessee Ridge pattern but I had to make him my own. I wanted him to hold something, but I couldn't decide what. Mary-Kate suggested a bag ....so this is what I came up with.
I also felted his hair and beard with wool....I really love it.

This is Colonial Clara and her baby....

I love to just cut fabric and see what comes out......so she is a true one of a kind....
I just added them both to my etsy shop .....so check them out if you like!

I need to stop messing around with dolls and climb in the attic....put up my Fall containers and drag down my Christmas. I am gonna have a very simple, natural look this year. We have so much going on here....we will not be doing any entertaining....in fact we plan to start tearing that wall on real soon (say a little prayer...we have never done anything like this)!

My Etsy store has been on vacation mode since the end of February right before we moved. Well last week I got a email asking me about my room sprays....when I told her I would make her some this is what she said....

"That's awesome. Let me know, I would like to purchase 5 bottles. I think your room spray's are the best on Etsy. And I have tried a number of different ones. Thanks for your quick answer"

So today I came out of "vacation mode"! All the old favorites are there plus I added some new ones like "Amish Harvest" and "Sage & Citrus". I have also been feeling that old creative feeling lately......

Fireplace Tranformation!

This is what that fireplace looked like the first time we saw it (that is the former owner)

And this was making do over the Summer....

And this is the mantle I got for 20$ at the "Rag Bag"

I really loved it but.....it was not wide enough to go around our wood burning insert.
So Joey and I took it apart, added a longer piece of wood... and a few new details (aged to look as old as the rest of the piece). I decided to paint it the same color as my kitchen cabinets, in fact I am in the process of repainting the trim in the kitchen and this area this same color. I was so inspired by the home of Linda Harris in Country Sampler and on the blog Behind my Red Door. And now it looks like this....

I am sure I will continue to tweak it....after seeing these pictures...
I need to use some steel wool to even out the black paint on the insert.
I repainted it with heat resistant paint.
But I am so happy with the results and I am loving the color...it really warms up the whole area. That is one more project to check off out list.....soon we will be tearing down some walls! That is exciting and kinda scary.
In the end the kitchen, the den area (with the fire place, the dining room, and the front living room will be one open living space with columns, wood floors and the simple, primitive colonial look I long for! Ooooooh I get all warm and fuzzy just thinking about!

Making Beeswax Corn and More

Pack a lunch....this is a long one!

A while back I purchased this thingy at a yard sale.....it had plastic apples on it....but I knew it was meant for corn. But I never did anything with it, and it resurfaced after our move.

Well, I was in the hardware store the other day and saw this....

CRITTER CORN....That is what I need!
First I melted my beeswax that I keep in a crock pot
then I dipped the corn

then rub it in cinnamon....

I like to add a little cinnamon fragrance oil and rub it in good

Then I placed on the corn dryer
It also looks great laying in a bowl or trencher and smells good too!

As you know my Birthday was October 1st.....well my husband ask me what I wanted. I told him I wanted some dishes, he looked a little surprised, I have never been much of a dish girl. When I saw some blog buddies showing off their Pfaltzgraff Folk Art...I loved them. Anyway he turned me loose on ebay and told me to find some and I did......

but I do love my teapot....in fact I told my children that when I die to cremate me and put my ashes in this teapot! LOL All of the pieces are the original made in the USA (except the two sundae dishes and the little trinket boxes....they came in a lot) There are a few more pieces I would like to have....but I have to stay off the ebay for now! It is so addictive!

I have always liked these portraits .....but they remind me of the Scoopy Doo show. You remember the pictures that were hanging above the mantle and the eyes followed you! I thought this would be a great time of year for that....although I don't think there eyes will follow you!!!
Right check on the images to save it to your computer. Enlarge them to the size you want, print them out and frame them up!
Another suggestion is to print them on fabric, and make little pillow tucks. Here is a tutorial for printing on fabric

Don't forget to show us how you display them......watch out for the eyes!

I got my Harvest Swap from Julie, Country Girl at Heart.
I knew when I found out we were swap partners that I was in for a treat....and I was so right!!! Look.....

Love all the lovely fabric and the detail....oh so pretty. She is so talented!

Look at the little scarecrow bag....it is a painted ice cream spoon glued inside a tiny bag that was filled with candy corn (i ate it already)! They would be great party favors. Also...the wire decoration with my favorite things and a yummy spice tart! Thank you Julie!

I really didn't mean to stay away so long...I had another battle with the never ending "sickness"! Turned out to be bronchitis this time. But I am all better now and busy as a bee!
Let me show you some updated pictures of our evolving back yard. Now remember just a few months ago there was nothing but dirt back here! Our barn with recycled doors....in fact the one with glass, my Mama got off the street!
Yes, that is Jesus in my little pumpkin patch! He is Risen.....see, he has been on his back since the move. Last weekend we got him up and around here....he weighs a ton!

I joined Chars Textile Swap....my partner was Rondell of Tomato Creek Prims.. Friday I received my box of Swap Goodness.......
She made this lovely stitchery, a fabric cover book (I always wanted to do that) , rag star candle mats, a black felt cat (really touched my heart, my sweet black Kitty died last Summer) he has a pumpkin and a crow ...all on a star pedestal, a prim battery candle and.....

I quickly placed these 2 towels in my bathroom......perfect!
I love it all...Thanks Rondell!!!
Joey and I worked hard on on barn this weekend and I feel like I have painted the whole world! I will post some new pictures this week.
I think it is about time for a giveaway....so look for that this week also.
Today is my big shopping day....you know one of those we are out of everything days!

Makeovers & More

First, let me thank everyone for all your well wishes. I ended up having to go to the Doctor and turns out I had a really nasty sinus and throat infection. I am still not back to normal (whatever that is) but I am feeling much better.

Remember this purchase...
Here it is now...
I got a little can of "greyblueish" paint off the "opps" rack at Lowes and decided that my pie safe needed a face lift.
Before...And now....
A while back Char posted a tutorial on these George and Abe prints.........I finally got around to doing it....I really love them and now Joey wants a set for his office. Thanks Char!

Last weekend we got privacy fence put up across the back of our property and I got it painted this week. I can't wait to get the rest up....I love fences,it is kinda like framing a picture. Saturday we are gonna put doors on the barn and whatever else we can check off the list!

Alive and not well

Well I am alive but I have had the worse cold, allergy, sinus with a hacking cough ever! I am feeling much better today, thank God cause it was really kicking my butt!
I wanted to get on here and not only let you know I am still living...but I have goodies to share. I did a swap with Jenn at Bittersweet Prims and here is what she sent me:
The stump doll, the sweet little cupboard angel and the little bag. This is my open front cabinets in my kitchen.

In my hallway near my laundry area I hung the other sweet angel and the wool bag!
I just love everything...and it makes me so happy everytime I pass them. She does wonderful work! Thanks Jenn!!!!

A couple of weeks ago I made this Dry Goods sign for my kitchen (the same open front cabinets as above)
I was very pleased with it.
I did get our barn painted.... Have I ever told you how much I love my Wagner Power Painter ....I do.I do! (I did paint the singles a little...my bad!)
I finished up my textile swap and got it sent out just in time this afternoon. I sure hope she likes her goodies!
I have some makeovers to share too....I will get them on later this week. Right now I am gonna catch up on some blog reading while I eat some fat free rainbow sherbet (my fave)!

This & That Tuesday

Hello my friends. I trust that everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July weekend. We did grill out.....but most of the weekend was spend working on our continuing house projects. We finished the main construction of our barn, still have to add the doors and I would like a cupola on top. I will be painting this today....guess what color!

Here are a few TS finds ......

I found the little wood towel rack, the napkins (I got all they had left), and the little metal grater at Habitat Restore. I found the little crock at a TS and the little wood with tile thing at good will. Which 2 of these things can you put together to form one prim thing?
Ta-daaa! My make do grater now hangs on the side of my cabinet.

I finally painted 2 sets of shaker boxes that I have had for along time.
I am pleased with the way they look, now I have a round set to complete.

I participated in Chars Patriotic swap. My partner was Sondra from Home & Garden Grace. She is fairly new to bloggin but she has got this swap thing down pat! Look at my goodies!Look at the little pillow she made for me....look at the detail, Love it! The quilted wall hanging is wonderful!!! And a little flag she primed up and added the special tag and... the little metal old glory but look at this.....

I just love him,,,,,he is laying on my table right now, but I think I may add him to a grapevine wreath and hang it above my mantle. Oh he is so purdy!!!
Thank you so much ......I will treasure everything forever!

And if that was not enough I got another package today. Janene and I did a swap...she wanted some room sprays, so I ask her about a spoon rack (she is always finding the best stuff)...So I fixed her up a little goodie box ...and look what she sent me

She even added spoons!!!! I am so in love with it. It looks like the one I saw on Under the Wild Cherry Trees I am so tickled!!!! Look at the perfect color and finish!
And you might remember the cute little snowman she got on one of her latest thrifting sprees......well I commented on how much I liked him and how I was gonna copy him.....well now I have him!

She also put in this cute little angel (I am sure it made her think of me!)
I feel like it is Christmas night and I got the best presents in the world!

And now for an update on my crocks with painting....
No scraping for me....I am much to lazy for that.
I just put a little finger nail polish remover on a cotton ball and it came right off.

Thrift Store Goodies

I have done pretty good about staying away from thrift stores and yard sales.....because I have so many, many projects here at the house.
But a prim girl can only hold out for so long! MAMA NEEDED A GOODIE!
So today I stopped by Habitat for Humanity Restore and got me a little fix. I nearly peed my pants when I saw these crocks...they were nested all inside each other with there wood lids on top....waiting for me!
Look at their pretty little bottoms ......stamped Robinson Ransbottom Roseville, Ohio
USA. They only have one draw back....someone painted on them. But I think I can get it off, if not I will just keep it turned around to the back. I paid $3.59 for the whole set.Then there was a little bag of little pillows and bears made from quilt pieces....25 cents!
This sadly painted game board, I could not leave it .....lookin' like that! And these napkins and...a 1995 Country Sampler's Decorating Ideas and a 1988 Better Homes and Gardens Christmas ideas...some things were dated, but a lot of it is just timeless!
And last there is this No I don't know what it is or what it was used for but .....it made me think of this....

Yea, it reminded me of this picture I had seen on Primp Your Pad (don't spank me for stealing your picture!) I think I can make it work, we will see!

Let me brag for just a minute on my babies..../>
Mary-Kate turned 13 on June 4th, I took her and a couple of friends to the beach,we got rained out....but we did some shopping and stopped for chili-cheese fries (her Fave) they gave them all sundaes!
Last Saturday Joseph graduated from South Lenior High School
We all look a little melted...it was very warm!
He plans to become a High School teacher....he would love to teach "Theater"!
My Babies are growing up!

The Rag Bag

Yesterday the children and I took a little break in the action around here, and took a little trip to the "Rag Bag". One of my favorite places....I always find something special. This is not my first post about the "Rag Bag"......I posted last Summer about the wonderful stop...that is right on the way to the beach. His shop then was in a very old log cabin near the old mill pond. I was so sad when I found out the log cabin had burned down. Go back and read that post here.
Soooo...the "Rag Bag" has moved to "downtown" Trenton.
Trenton is a very small, but quaint little town. He is right next door to a bail bondsman....that is conveniently located across the street from the courthouse/county jail.

because it was already loaded in my truck!
This great old mantle....20 bucks! The picture does not do it justice...I love the old chucky wood. It is gonna look great on my brick fireplace wall......much better than the white "shelf thing" that is up there now.
I got this little goodie at a TS the other day....
I love the size of it and the antique green color, I don't think I can deal with little gay colonial guy....I will probably just flip it...IDK yet!
I need to get in the attic and get my box of Summer/Americana stuff...I better hurry before it gets to HOT!

This was taken a few weeks before move in day on March 1St...
(noice the one set of shutters on the porch, it looked like a man with one eyebrow)

And this is how it looksthis morning......after paint,new door hardware,new light fixture, window boxes, landscaping and lots of DIY!
I still have more painting to do and the metal post will be replaced..... and as you can see we took out the overgrown shrubs...and made the beds bigger. I decided to use low growing eveergreens. Dwarf youpon hollys are lovely green now, but this fall leaves will turn burgundy-red. Dwarf gardenias are blooming now and smell so good, but will keep the glossy green leaves all year. I have not got my water feature going yet....I need a new half whiskey barrel, but I have not had any luck finding a new one.
Color will always be added in my window boxes, planters and other containers.
Mary-Kate planted dwarf lavender, english and lemon thyme around the steping stones.
I need more topsoil and mulch....and the list goes on! But we are getting there.
Look at our workshop/storage building Joey is building.He keeps telling me that he is no carpenter....but I have found that as long as I give him plenty of good lovin' and ice tea....he can do anything! He has made a little more progress since I took this pic on Sunday.
Oh, he said the sweetest thing to me..."I think I will have enough wood left over to build you a little potting shed"! That melted my heart!
I gotta get back to work, have a great day!

I got these wonderful wood post from my Mama's barn. We are gonna use them on our front porch to replace some old metal ones. They are very special,
because they came from the home of a wonderful, sweet man, who was a dear friend of our family. Mama also gave me the corner shelf.... although I see it as a cubby box Shelf.Yes,a little paint and it will be very nice. Thank you Mama!

I hope to have some before and after pictures of the outside of our house by the weekend. We have been working very hard....infact I think I have painters elbow! It is very sore and I cannot pick up anything heavy with my right arm....ouchie!
It has been very cool and rainy the last couple of days here so I am painting all the white trim and doors in my hallway. It really warms up everything to get rid of all that white! And the doors are flat white....or they were!
We had 60 peices of fence delivered and are waitting to be painted....so I am going to get me a power painter from Home Depot.
I wish I would have thought of that before I spend a day painting shutters!

My great great neice, (that makes me sound so old)
has been staying with me again on week days. She is 3 and I have kept her since she was less that 2 weeks old. My sisters thought it would be funny for her to call me Aunt B (you know like on Andy Grifith show.....I am so much hotter in my apron that her!) She just calls me B...most of the time it is Beeeeeeeeeeee!
Anyway shes loves to play with my rag dolls, and I don't mind. The other night after she went home I walked in the dining room and this is what I saw.....
All the dolls were taking a nap on my wool eggs and Tony had to get in the shot too!

This is how our bathroom looked the first time we saw it........

It was a bright sunshine yellow

I still have some things to do.....like replacing the sink faucet and we are putting in checkerboard tile flooring.....but this is how it looks today.

I am not sure you can tell from the pictures but I painted the walls light camel....

I also need to put rabbit wire in the little cabinet above the toliet and I need to buy a rug.... and a toliet seat cover
so what do you think....look a little better?

That picture is class of 1904...I found it in the attic of a home we owned.

I did not make any major changes in here, the walls were already a butter color.
Now there will be a big change in the future....the walls are coming down. See, this room opens ro a small living room on one side and small family room on the other....that is right off the kithen......yes we want it all to be one big open area, with beams....it is gonna be nice!

Show Me Your Front Door

As You all know we recently moved into a "new" old home. We have lots of changing and updating to do. But I think one of the most important features of a home exterior is the front door. I have become obsessed with looking at them, every street I go down, home stores and of course here on the net.

Okay this is not my front door....but I could not write about doors without showing the now world famous "Red Door"! Yes this door belongs to our friend Linda from Behind My Red Door
Now you know when you see a door like this.....that the inside has got to be wonderful.....and we know that it is! I love her door, maybe I will do mine like hers.

No this is not but door either, it belongs to Kelly,the owner of Small Town Primitives But I just love the look, her father made it for her....oh maybe I want one like that. I like the added thingy above her door too...looks so colonial...I might want some of those too.

Okay so the storm door has to go to the dump......what about the main door...
It is wood, has nice panels....with paint and some new hardware, I think I can make this door work. I have looked at some new ones and they are big bucks.

Have you caught the Spring fever yet? I have...I am so ready to get busy outside. This year it is gonna require more than buying a few flats of flowers. Those Pics above are front last Summer. Our new back yard is mostly bear...which is good in a way, I like to work with a clean slate. We plan to build a workshop, put in a lot of wood fence and...and well the list is long. So in the mean time I will dream and plan. These are some great places of inspiration...ENJOY!

I need to sit down and stencil myself a dry goods sign to go above my cabinet that I left the dooors off of.

Opps...you were not suposed to see that box sitting in the kitchen floor!
This is the family room area right off the kitchen.(above)

After it got dark...I took another pic in the kitchen, so you could see the curtain(without the sun blasting thru)...it is made from black stripe ticking. .

Speaking of curtains, let me share with you a bright idea I had ( I get one every once in a while). I measured my windows and decided how much fabric I needed for each window. I wrote it down on file label stickers. When I went to Walmart I ask the lady to cut what I needed for each window and I stuck the labels on each peice. So all I have to do is sew a rod pocket and hand it up! Walmart lady was impressed...anyway

I am so glad the kids are out of school for Spring break....no driving twice a day!
I can have more home time to finish my decorating....the hardest part was the kitchen. No more major redo's until we start on the floors. Well I am gonna paint the bathroom and all the doors and trim.....but you know what I mean....the kitchen is always the hardest.

I am sure some of you might think I have fallen off the weight loss wagon....well I haven't (i was cropping off my ugly unpainted toes and did something goofy...to make it black)

The kitchen is almost picture ready. We are gonna put in the new stove hood tonight.
I keep playing around with the decor...or tweaking as you all say!
I have decided to make some simple tie back curtains....I am gonna go buy fabric tomorrow. So stay tuned!!!

Hello....Long time no blogging.... I know...I know, but I have been a busy girl!
Oh...my big one is my mailbox of course! It is the one thing that is finished around here. The mailbox that was here was falling apart, so when I went to pick out a new one, I picked the big one! My Magazines don't have to be rolled up and the mailman won't have to honk every time I get a packages and goodies (so feel free to send me some,LOL). Anyway, I kept it simple...but I like it. How big is yours...I mean what does it look like?

As you can see I am still working in my kitchen...what a mess! But we are getting there....the cabinets are finished. Can you see the added touch?

Joey used the table saw to cut ridges in the cabinet doors....for a bead board effect. I love it!

I hope to be finished with this kitchen redo by Monday....so I can move on to the rest of the house.
I did weigh on Tuesday, I took my picture...but then I got busy and never posted. Not much of a change. half a pound. I have lowered my points since Tuesday, so hopefully I will see a bigger drop next Tuesday. Hopefully, I will post on time!
Break is over....back to work for me!

I did not take off much.....8 ounces. But considering it is that "special" time of the month and I am feeling like a blow fish....I guess that is Okay!
After much thought....I decided today not to go back to WW. I am still following the program and I am not quiting....but it cost $39.00 a month. I enjoy the meetings, but I really only need the accountability of weighing in....and I am gonna keep doing that here. I know the program and I am sticking to it, I just felt like I could use that money somewhere else....like paint or cute little sundresses!

I am making some progress in my kitchen, and I am very happy with my colors. I am gonna leave the doors off this top section. I used a little of the ebony Briwax I ordered and I love it.(thanks Janene) I ordered the dented cans for a nice discounted price...What do I care if the can is dented?
I am gonna work on the counter top tonight, I have been running errands all day. I am ready to get my kitchen all in place....so I can decorate!!!

HONEY......I'm Home!

Yes we are in our new home...in is about it! I don't care how organized you try to be when you move, it always ends up the same way....a bunch of boxes and you can't find a thing! And what a wonderful weekend it was to be moving...cold,windy and very,very rainy! It was not pleasant!
I did not go to WW this week, Joey was off so we got some things done around here. I was gonna weight on my scale...if I knew where it was!!! My mother make me eat some of her homemade lasagna on Saturday....but she assured me that I had done plenty to work it off. Mother knows best...right! And being a loser has never paid so well...

I also got some wonderful soap from Sugarbush Primitives.....thank you all...you are too sweet!

Oh the picture is of my beautiful holly tree, we have two of them. At Christmas time I am always looking for red berries....well now I have my on stash!
I am getting ready to start painting....
Yes .....the blue kitchen is where I am starting. The shelf liner was soooo stuck I had to put very hot water on it to get it to come off.... I am sure it had been there 40 years (since the house was built!) And look, I started peeling off the lovely counter top and back splash and was happy to find paneling on the back splash. It will look great after I paint it. And remember I told you I wanted wood counter top....well there is heavy plywood under this white and gold....and I am thinking I can make it work. My husband was happy to hear that...but I'll see how it looks.

These are the colors I am using Stony Creek is what I picked for the paneled den walls that is right off my kitchen and I will use it for the back splash.
Can you believe I had already picked this before I went to Lowes...and someone had returned two gallons of it....so I got it for 10$! The Good Lord was making up for the bad weather during the move! LOL! I picked Royal red for my cabinets, it is a Biltmore Estate color and cost 30$ a gallon....so I asked the paint guy to mix it using the less expensive paint at 14$ a gallon. And for trim work I am going with heavy cream. I just love paint color names!
The Internet service we had before is not available here, choices are limited in rural areas. We are trying sprint mobile broadband (just plugs into my laptop)we have 30 days to try it out...it is pretty good....I can't go back to dial up!

Two more pounds down! I went to weigh in, but I did not stay for the meeting. We are down to 4 days before the move...so I am super busy!

No, this is not a flea market, it is actually my new living room...full of my stuff! We are working really hard to get the majority of our things to the house...so on Saturday we only have to move our bedrooms, the fridge, freezer,couch's and TVs.

I do have a little tutorial planed for tomorrow....so y'all come back!

Someone commented on one of old posts....so I went back to look at it. I used to do alot of stuff...I have been so busy with everything else lately, I have not had much to offer. Well let me give you a little something today.....
This is a fixture I paid 2$ for at a Church yard sale a few years ago (I have had it stashed away and now I need it for my "new" House)
After I cleaned it up
I removed the plastic covers on the candles and put them to the side.....
I spray painted it with a flat black Walmart paint
Notice that I allow a little of theblack paint to get on the "wood" center.
Then I painted the center with a mustard color ( if some of these pics are goofy...it because I took them with one hand while I worked with the other)

Next get your plastic covers and we are gonna grubbie them....and you can use your favorite way ( the same way you grubbie your tappers)I had some left over candlewax so I am using that today. I melted my wax over very low heat in and old cake pan....just dip it.. roll it..rub it.. what ever turns you on! Then rub on some spices...

I like the drippy look..you get that by letting the wax cool a little and then spoon it on

Slide your cover on and the little wax bogger will slide on the top from the wax inside...take it out. Let them sit on long enough to harden then sit them aside again.Lilightly sand the middle...
Hey why did't someone tell me you could unscrew that ....makes it a lot easier

Use your favorite aging substance, I am using early american stain.....blot and rub to your liking.
Put it all back together

and you have the almost finished product...still needs to be hung. That will be Joey's job, I am not allowed to play with electricty! It really looks better than the picture shows...maybe it is the countertop it is sitting on. In an ideal world where time and money were not an issue...everything would be changed before we move in!
But you know..I think I make better choices after I live with it a little...so it will all work out. I will show you another pic when it is hung.

Another way to do your candles is paint them with modpodge and roll in spices or use your glue gun to drip glue around the top and let it run down the sides....then paint to your liking (I like crackle on these) Here is another one I did...it was brass...

These last one is a single plastic Christmas candle or was!

Look I am finally under 150! A loss of 2 pounds 4 Oz's and I am feeling mighty fine!
We had a great WW meeting today. When I received my second 5 pound star, our leader ask if I had anything to share with the group. So I told everyone why I have the weight lady take a picture of the scale. (cause I really get some weird looks, LOL)
Yes, I told them about all of you! They all thought it was a great idea. I told them what a wonderful motivational tool bloging is, and how we encourage each other. I bragged on all of you! (aww...shucks I nearly teared up!)
I want to pack up a few more boxes before bedtime....only 11 days to go!

Look At My Goodies

Oh my goodness what a box of goodies I got in the mail! This was the revealing of my Valentine admirer swap......and man was Garage Gramma good to me! I got this on Thursday...but I am just now getting a chance to post. I got the little wall hanging, a Little pillow tuck, a can wrap, a candle wrap, a set of coasters, a heart ornie, a check book cove (I needed a new one, a sweet homemade card and...this perfect prim bag! I just love it all! Thank you soooo much Gramma!
12 more days til moving day.....but really we have already got a lot of stuff at the new house already. We have been "moving" for 2 weeks now....all my holiday stuff is in my new attic and things we know we won't use right away are in our storage. Most of my stuff is off the walls and I took a truck load over today. Moving is hard work but I am so excited I don't even mind it. I am so ready to start painting and redoing.....Joey has been holding me back...he says lets get moved first then you can go for it! I know he is right...but don't tell him!
Tomorrow is take it off Tuesday!!! Ya'll be good!!!!

I forgot to take my camera today, so I did not get a picture of the scale. This is a picture of my booklet where the WW lady records my weight. I have a loss of 1 pound 6 oz. At WW you get rewarded with stars that you put on your star catcher book mark.
Here is mine, the little star is for my first 5 pound loss. Today I got my 5% loss star(8 pounds).
I will be so glad when I get below 150!!!

We are having a Spring like day today so I pulled out a pair of khaki Capri pants, that fit well at end of the summer last year(size 10) today they are big. So I am getting there. And be sure to check all the losers over at Primitive Lifestyle, everybody is doing great and nobody is giving up!
I think the secret to loosing weight is changing habits, without feeling deprived. You have to keep some safe foods on hand for when you need a little something something....
I just had the pineapple upside downcake yogurt....yummy! They are all 2 points each.
I gotta get busy...pulling out stuff for our yard sale on Saturday!

I hardly know where to even begin...so much is going on in my life! And it is All Good!

I am in a Valentine swap and have been receiving cards and notes from my secret admirer (i had some explaining to do..to my husband). I got this in the mail, ain't' it so purdee?
Now....I knew when this year began that change was in the air! We got a wonderful new President, I wanted to change my weight,my body....my health... and I am!!! But I had no idea!!!! Have you ever had something big happen in your life, that you knew...that you could feel God's hand all around it? That you have no doubts at all...it is a rare and wonderful feeling! For the past 5 years we have been renting this old farmhouse we live in now. We loved the look of it, all the land and the fact that the rent was so reasonable. We hoped that we might buy it, if he ever wanted to sell it. I am glad we didn't....because we have learned that we do not want this much yard to take care of and while old farmhouses are charming in many ways...cold air coming in every crack is not so charming. We have learned that in a big way lately because this winter has been soooooo cold (for NC standards).
We had just started to look around some when we came across a sweet deal......we closed on our house last Wednesday. It is smaller but very well built and it needs curve appeal ( but we can do that), so needless to say I have been very busy. We are gonna be moved in by the first of March! Just this week I have cleaned carpet, power washed windows and packed and moved boxes. We are having a big yard sale next Saturday so we are preparing for that also...but I am so happy! Yes this does meaning the closing of my little shop.....and that is bittersweet...but I know I can do it again if I want to...but right now I just want to focus on my house and my family. I will still have my online business of course and I have some great local customers that would buy from me if I sold stuff from the truck of my car!
I will have lots of before and afters to show you in the coming months...I will give you a little teaser of my house and one of the first projects I want to tackle.
My Kitchen....Love the black hardware on the cabinets, hate the 80's blue. I am thinking a distressed barn red. the counter tops are white with gold flecks....I really want to put in solid wood counter tops. You really can't hurt it and I have seen lots of folks use it.
And I am bringing my white farmhouse sink with me! The ceiling fan will be replaced with a nice primitive fixture I have.
I gotta get busy so much to do...if you did not know it GOD IS GOOD....ALL THE TIME!!!

2 pounds down today! Slowly but surely I guess. I think I look a little better and I know I feel better.
I don't know what I am doing with my fingers in that picture..
(hang loose?)..remember I can't see what the scales say...I have to wait for her to tell me. Sometimes she does not tell me as quick as I want her too....but I guess she is taking the picture so it slows her down a bit.
I know I have not posted much lately...but I have got a big project in the works! I will be able to share that with you tomorrow.
I want to share with you a couple of samplers I did with my machine.( I don't want you to think the only thing I have to talk about is my fat a**!!!)
I am working on some cross stitch projects too...I had not done cross stitch since before my children were born. I was inspired by Jenn at Taylor'sFarmhouseAttic...she has a wonderful blog and a heart touching story.

Take it off Tuesday

Well...not taking much off today! I lost one pound! I was really upset at first...because I felt like I had lost more. So I went into the meeting, and I am sure it showed on my face (my lips were pooched out)I am sure! Anyway Our leader is talking about how you will have slow weeks and she said to think of it like this......you have alot of birds and you are tyring to get them back in their cage, if you try to catch them all at once, you won't be able to do it. But if you get one, put it in (shut the door) then get another and so on...you will be able to get all the birds back in the cage!
Okay..I get it...patience.
My birds are probably coo coo birds!

Anyway I was putting up the groceries ...and I saw this pack of ham...1 pound...okay that is a lot of meat. So I feel better now, at least I am moving in the right direction.

I had a big package on my porch when I got home today....

It is pretty....but because of it my WW meeting was canceled today....so no weigh in. Well I guess I can look forward to a bigger loss next week.
I have been in my pj's all day....and when it is cold outside you need something to snuggle up with.....This was in the mailbox today!

Yea, baby.... 4.6 pounds gone! I'll take it....I hope I can do that well every week!
I had a wonderful meeting...we talked about filling foods, foods like whole grains, high fiber...that fill you and stay with you. I went food shopping right after...ladies check labels...don't assume because it says light or low fat that it is a good choice.
This week I need to increase my water intake.....not easy for me....I don't like water! Thank God for the sugar free lemonade mix to add to it! And I need to get into a workout routine too.
Come on you can be a LOSER too!

Here I am! I hate getting my picture made now...yuk!

I am all signed up at weight watchers and here is my weight....
(the lady thought I was nuts when I ask her to take this picture)

I got all my stuff!
According to the little chart a person of 5'2" should weigh no more than 137 and no less than 109....so I am going for 130.

I think one of the most important things you need to do is keep a journal....If you BITE it WRITE it! It really makes you think before you stick something in your mouth.

I am gonna do this ....I am gonna loose 31.4 pounds(at least)! And I am gonna shape up!

Change is Coming!

Yes it is!
it is that time of year...for resolutions...promises to do better! I know cause every year like Lot's of you I say I gonna loose some weight...start working out and so on! Last year I joined the local Curves....working out 3 times a week, loosing pounds,loosing inches....doing everything right....they went OUT OF BUSINESS! I said I will work at home ....yea right!
I have gone to Weight Watchers and lost weight a couple of times before....so last week I decided to go back. I start on Tuesday.
The weighing in...the accountability works for me.
I got this stuff in the mail on Saturday so I am taking that as a sign that I am moving in the right direction.

(I saw this on someones blog and I had to steal it!)

I used to loose weight to look better...now at 43...it is about FEELING better. Loosing this weight will do wonders for my back and my blood presures been a little high lately so I need to do something!
I am gonna take this accountability thing one step further....see tomorrow when I go to weight in...you are going with me. That's right I will take a picture of me on the scale...and the big number! Every Tuesday...we will watch that number go down together. You see it doesn't matter what we have tried before....it only matter's that we are willing to try again! So can I count on you to cheer me on?
I will set my goals tomorow....this time I am gonna make it all the way to the finsh line!

Oh I wish you could they are so yummy smelling. I just added more of these new soy candles and melts to my etsy shop.
I don't even like paraffin candles anymore....these smell and burn so much better.
These are made locally for me...and I have tried many different brands, these are wonderful. More scents to come!

Yes, only a few days after getting my computer back...our internet service went down. Can you believe it!
The guy came to fix it on Friday...it was working....then slowed to a turtles pace...slower than dial up! So he came back to day..and finally I can blog again!
I have been having serious withdraws!!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas....and since I could not post my pictures before Christmas here are some now. This is the back porch....

We are having a blast with it!
I had my first trip to the chioprator today...she is realining me. My neck is straight were it sould be curved and my back is curved where it such be straight. The medical term is "backasswards" I think! She said I would be sore... but she will be able to help me. I think my body is crying for ice packs now!

I wanted to let you know that I am still alive!
Remember a couple of weeks ago, I had that close call with my lap top and Joey managed to bring it back from the dead. Well....it happened again and he could not bring it back this time. It was my motherboard.
Joey contacted HP...just to see what they would say. It is less than 2 years old. They said they would send a box for us to send the laptop to them....they did. I thought they would respond saying they could fix it but it would cost us. Friday night Fed Ex bought it....completely repaired...and I did not loose any data, pictures....everything was there! No Charge!!!!!
I am cleaning house today, getting ready for a girl friends gathering here at lunch tomorrow.
I plan to post my Christmas Decoration Pictures too. I am gonna catch up on some blog reading then I gotta get busy!

Liberty Hall Christmas Tour

On Saturday night we went to Kenansville (about 25 mins. away) for the candle light Christmas Tour at Historic Liberty Hall.It was built in the early 1800's, restored in 1964 and has been open for public tours since 1968. I loved it...so many goodies to see, I snapped alot of pictures but some of my first ones were to dark...but still a lot to see.It was cold and rainy....the Confederate Soldiers are guarding the Kenan House.We first entered the music room....every Kean child was expected to play at least one musical instrument. We sang along as a lady in period costume played the piano.We next saw the The ladies parlor which was pink...this is where the ladies would come after dinner to have tea and cookies and gossip I am sure!This is one of the Keanan girls wedding gown.Lot of greens were used in Christmas decorating....they were easy to get, freshen the house and most important ...the fresh greens were believed to keep out evil spirits.A child's high chair.Ribbon was hard to come by...so the more fruit and ribbon you displayed....you showed your wealth. This was a working plantation, so there was lots of food and during the holiday season...plenty was prepared for the guest. Above is a warming closet made into the side of the chimney to keep food warm. They also had these to put the ladies wraps and hats in so when they left to go home they were nice and warm to wrap up in.The main house was very nice...but I loved Martha's house. Martha was the family cook...and they say she could make a biscuit that would melt in your mouth. Martha came as a slave but was later given her freedom but stayed with the Kenan family. Because she loved them and they loved her. I love her little house...this is the inside. It was rainning so I did not get one of the outside >The well...The soliers gather by the fire Do you have some holly leaves....dry one and throw it into a roaring fire. It is said that all your troubles will wash away and your sins of the last year. This is what our tour guide told us as we stood round the fire and he passed the basket of holly leaves around for everyone to get a leave. I had only one thing to say "bring that basket back to me ...I need more leaves!!"

NO, Not Me.. My Laptop!

You see she was a sick girl....black screen I couldn't do anything but Panic! I do all my business,It is the brain of my embroidery machine, my blogging....I looooove my laptop. I can't replace her...not now at Christmas.....OoooooHHH NOOOOOO!!!!!
When I am feeling blue or want a new idea...I surf around ....buy a pattern or better yet find a freebie..oooooh the instant high for me.
Sure we have a PC upstairs...but that's what my husband and the children use....I can't watch TV while I blog...I don't wanta use that one......NO NO please God don't let her die!
All this was banging around in my head as I drove my daughter to dance.....tears trickled down my face (see it is also PMS time too)!
My husband told me it did not look good....
and when I walked in the door He said she was gone...
and then he smiled!
SHE LIVES!!!!
I said how did you fix it when you could not even get in it?
He said well...you F8 and cold files...I quickly put my hand up and said I don't need to know.
He is a self taught computer pro.....good to be sleeping with one of those Huh!
She had some infections and a virus....but she is all clean and healthy now! Thank God and my Husband of course!
I got a present in the mail this week....

Pumped and ready for the oven!

I started this post on Wednesday...and did not get back to it until now. The Turkey was goooood...and it was all gone! The pumping up makes for a moist and Delicious bird.
I also do this when we deep fry....which we will do for Christmas. But really everyday is Turkey day I my house....My husband Joey is a Manager at Butterball. So Eat MO Turkey!!!

Here is a little story I wanted to share with you:
A holy man was having a conversation
with the Lord one day and said.

'Lord, I would like to know what
Heaven and Hell are like.

The Lord led the holy man to two
doors.

He opened one of the doors and the
holy man looked in. In the middle of
the room was a large round table. In
the middle of the table was a large pot
of stew, which smelled delicious and
made the holy man's mouth water.
The people sitting around the table
were thin and sickly. They appeared to
be famished.. They were holding
spoons with very long handles that
were strapped to their arms and each
found it possible to reach into the pot
of stew and take a spoonful.

But because the handle was longer
than their arms, they could not get the
spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight
of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, 'You have seen Hell.

They went to the next room and
opened the door. It was exactly the
same as the first one. There was the
large round table with the large pot of
stew which made the holy man's mouth
water. The people were equipped with
the same long-handled spoons, but here
the people were well nourished and
plump, laughing and talking. The holy
man said, 'I don't understand.'

'It is simple,' said the Lord.

'It requires but one skill. You see
they have learned to feed each
other, while the greedy think only
of themselves.'

Remember that I will always share
my spoon with you.

It's Begining to Smell alot like Christmas!

Yes it is! Especially at my house, because I have been making holiday room sprays!

Said, Mister Turkey.
I am sorry , I just could not resist that one! This is what I saw this morning when I went out to warm up my truck. Baby.....it's cold outside! And my bones don't like it....now I know why old folks move to warmer climates.
We had a little snow yesterday.... It was gone as quickly as it came! Now understand here in Eastern NC we don't do snow. I mean if we get a ground covering.....we shut down...we just don't do snow! You go to store get your bread, milk, monkey food and go Home. Go out and play with the kids for 10 minutes....take a nice picture...collect snow for snowcream...make it eat it....put on warm pj"s and sit by the fire and craft til it is gone!

I can't believe I almost forgot this ...One year ogo Raggedy Angels Primitives officially opened! So I went over to the shop to decide what I wanted to giveaway in honor of this occasion. I decided "Gracie" would love to go home with one of you lovely ladies. Gracie is a true OOAK handmade (by me) 24" doll, and... she grabbed the big Candy Kane ...so I said okaaaay! A Little Christmas....

Let's start with a good man or two...

These are some big gingers I made this weekend and my family were cruel to my very prim men. But my three year old niece,( Harley ) spent the night with us on Saturday ....and she said they were her babies! So they got a little Love.

Here are a few more goodies I have added to the shop.

I still have all this in the works......

You know I wonder how long you have to use a glue gun before you learn not to let it drip on your finger..... I have been using one since they were invented and I still burnt the pudding out of my finger today! OUCHIEEEEEEEE!

I have seen a lot of folks have decorated their homes for Christmas...I have only done a little in the shop. I never decorate until after Thanksgiving. But this year we are having Thanksgiving at my Mamas...so I may get started early this year. I trashed my old wreaths after Christmas last year...they had served there time! So I am going to Michael's tomorrow and see what I want to do.

So needless to say...I'm getting that special feeling!

I am very pleased with this! My sister gave me a bag full of wool felt, that she got at a yard sale....and that's what I used! I think I am getting the hang of this embroidery machine...now I am gonna try some font and auto punch!
*Little tip for you..... a clear CD top makes a great square template (I hate to measure)

Because it is clear it is easy to center your design!

Well let me get back to work now.....I have to finish my gift for the secret Santa swap, make some holiday room sprays and list some things on etsy....meanwhile the week is flying by!!!

A Little Something.....

Yes, I have got a little something done.....I have been in a "Funk"...couldn't do anything right! But I think I got my MOJO back. I know this happens to the best of us!
Here are some designs I did with my machine, I am gonna make them into little ornies for the tree. The designs are from HomeBerries.

I am addicted! I love how quickly I can get these done!

*Little tip for you...I Love this vanilla! It is Molina, Mexican vanilla extract. I buy it at Walmart, it is in the Mexican food section, cost $1.50. I like to put in a spray bottle, it has great staining quality and smells good too!

Turning North Carolina Blue!!!

Yes, I voted and I hope for the first time in 30 years we go blue! I did my part to sweep the red out of my state....Goodbye Libby Dole ...go back to Kansas!

No matter where you stand ...this is a history making election.
And I am thankful that we are all able to choose for ourselves!
This weekend my children and I were working at our local Democratic Headquarters, we met a lady that had worked on Robert Kennedy's campaign...and he predicted that in forty years a African American would run for President and here we are! I know it it is not gonna be easy to dig out of this mess, but I believe there are better days ahead!
I am gonna cook up some supper and get in front of my TV! This is a very exciting time at my house! WE ARE FIRED UP!!!!!!!

(I took these pictures on Friday and I don't know what the heck that white thing is by the back door!)

This apple butter yellow cupboard did not look like this when i purchased it for five bucks. In fact my husband thought I bought it for firewood! With some paint and some Warren Kimble calendar pages decoupaged on the doors...it looks pretty good now!

I got my white sink for 2 bucks at an auction.

This green hoosier was purchased for me by my mother.....long,long before I ever thought about getting married.

My husband made the primitive pantry cupboard.

My Raggedy Ann's and Andy's....no I did not make any of them. They all came from yard sales....but they do inspire me.

If you have an old chair that the bottom is coming out of it ....hang it on the wall, the dolls won't mind! Sarah, my neice gave it to me.

I really should say WE did it.
As many of you know I got a new sewing/embroidery machine for my birthday....well it has been kicking my ***! The directions for it were not ADD friendly! On Sunday I broke 3 needles and said a lot of ugly words and I had not touched it all week. Yesterday my husband came home early....so I asked him if he would sit down with me and see what I was doing wrong. We went through the tutorial step by step. And there were a couple of things I was doing wrong.....but I got it now!!! Thanks to my sweet Joey! I was just over eager in the beginning
and thought I could jump right on it and go!

My sweet little Pumpkin!!! I think I will make this into a little pillow tuck ....it will be a keeper...since it was my first!
There ain't no stopping me now!

Yes, this is home I was telling you about! It is the Home of Clifton and Betty Huggins of Kinston North Carolina. I have a slide show that will show you the many lovely pieces inside the house...but in does not want to work right now. I will add it later!

The building for the General Store was moved here from another Lenoir County property. They collected these pieces for years before finally put them all in place here.

Oh look....this is were the goodies are! I let my Buddy Cheri go with me today, but I told her she can't come back without me, she might buy something I want....since I want it all! I should have blind folded her on the way over, LOL!

Yesterday I stopped by an Antique Sale, and I found some goodies!

3 quilts from the NC Mountains, a set of scales, red and white enamel pan and a homemade old wood box. I only spent $31.00! But the best part is the homeowner invited me back to tour her home and take pictures....oh girls we are in for a treat!
Her husband has an old store in their back yard....it is just like a General Store with post office and switch board....can't wait to go back!!!

Oh and look what I won from Rustic Tarts!

It is sweet little jar of mother of pearl buttons....I am the lucky one! I did not realize she was in Australia! Thank you so much!

I was going to Fasion Market Day today, but it was rainy and windy this morning.....I am a fair weather show girl! I don't like it to hot and I don't do rain! Oh well, I did not have any money on it anyway!

That is right, it is my birthday! Look what my Husband and children got for me!

It is a Singer Futura CE-250,sewing and embroidery machine. Whooo Whooo!
I am very excited about it! It comes with 120 designs but It has a USB port so I can hook up to my computer and use designs from the many sites that offer them. But that is not all, it has autopunch, which means it can turn any picture....like clipart and turns it into an embroidery design! It also can read any of the other machines designs (like the free designs they have on there web sites). Maybe I will design my own! LOL I am just learning all this...and so much more to learn. But I can't wait.
I have to share with you an email I got from my big sis today. (I am the baby...I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers.)

A long, long time ago in a land far away (well, not that far away), a little girl was born on a cool Friday evening. The little girl was loved very much by her family. Her two older sisters were really special (well, the older one was!) The OTHER sister dumped the little girl out of her bed, knocking her senseless! But the OLDER sister took care of the little girl, caring for her, rocking her to sleep and SINGING to her! She was THE BEST BIG SISTER!

Maybe that explains it…now that the little girl is all grown up, she sits around all day pulling at cotton with a big long stick. I’m very sure that it was the head injury and NOT the big sister’s singing!

True story...my sister Merle did dump me out of my cradle! This was from Joan. She is refering to my doll stuffin'!

Okay, I was thinking today about having a give-a-way....hummm, wonder if I have anything anyone would want.....hummmmmmm
Now I need to go play and learn with my new machine.
Oh I am 43 and yes I am still HOT....only now it seems to be in flashes!

North Carolina Muscadine Harvest Festival

What a wonderful, successful day we had. My only complaint would be the heat...but it was not so bad and at least it was not raining! We met some great new people saw some old friends and enjoyed some wonderful NC wines!

The most popular items were my ugly pumpkins and "Life is to Short to Drink Cheap Wine" signs.

This is my friend Cheri, this was her first festival...she had the space next to mine. I should have gotten pics of her stuff...she had great hand painted wine glasses,embellished towel sets and lots of other goodies. I am gonna get her to open an etsy shop!

Hey.....Who is that chick drinking that wine?

I could not have done it with out my special angels .....my husband Joey and my daughter Mary-Kate. Gotta Love em'!

Look at the beautiful matching earrings....Jennifer is soooo sweet and talented! I already have my eye on some other pieces. What a great place to Christmas shop to....go see her!
I gotta get busy cleaning and I am finally gonna do my Fall Decorating...I have never been this late! I have been so busy getting ready for the wine fest.

That is a witch laugh....in case you did not know.

I am taking a few minutes out of my mad crafting rush for my booth on Saturday.

I wanted to share a couple of my new friends with you. Old Haggie is a sweet old witch and look who is in her bag Boo the kitty!

And here is Prim Drac...You have to watch him...he likes to nibble on your neck!
Both are based on Chestnut Junction patterns.

My booth will be at the North Carolina Muscadine Harvest Festival....It is a blast!

When you go in the gate, they give you a wine glass and you go around and sample all day long! People are so sweet and eager to spend!!! It is a blast! The Winery's are intermingled with the other booths so I can step next door and get a little taste, just to wet my whistle.
Over 6000 people will attend! Hee Haw!!!!

It is very Windy and here today...but should pass by Saturday!

Taking Care of Bussiness

Okay first I have been tagged by Gina at Cat Nap Inn. So I have to name 6 things that you don;t already know about me...so here goes:

1.I have ADD (attention deficit disorder).
I did not figure it out until I was an adult but I know I have always had it. I was taking child development classes and working as a Parent Educator with the Parents as Teachers program.......I was sitting in my office reading one day and I said this is me! Metal Health was in the same complex as my office so I went right over. I saw the Doctor and answered a lot of questions and he agreed. Today I take Strattera and it works wonderful for me.....without it I would go in circles all day chasing my tail! The meds are great but learning the keys to your ADD is even more important. I learned alot while taking an intense class on working with Autistic children. You have to learn what your brain needs to work it's best. For example....I stay more organized when I can see things..like I took the doors off my upper cabinets, I like my pots and pans hanging from a pot rack. I recently moved my sewing machine and all my craft items over to another barn we have...I needed the space in my store and I wanted to get everything organized.
Here are a couple things that keep me on track

I hang my stencils up on pants racks, large patten sheets from magazines I had laminated and also hang up.

Ziplock bags are my friends... here I use them for patterns and floss.
( I am addicted to epatterns, I love them....if I feel bad I buy a Epattern...I love Them!!! watching it print out and then reading the directions...I just get happy!
Hey, It could be worse!)

It is a learning process and it takes self discipline. Remember there is no one size fits all when it comes to treatment...everyone is not the same.

Did you know that most ADD people are very creative and Smart! LOL

2. I love my PJ's.....I can do my best housecleaning or crafting in them and if you are my neighbors, you know I am not afraid to go outside in them!

3.I like to burn my pop tart just a little burnt on top with a glass of milk.

4. I love forensic shows! (Tru TV, Discovery ID)

5. Oh yea....I am right/Left dyslexic....That means I know the difference.....but I have to think for a split second or look at my hands.

6. I watched all the debates, conventions and I watch the news show every night.( I have not been watching much forensics lately).
The choice for President and Vice President is very clear to me. This is the most important election of my life....I am going to know all about it. I can respect other peoples choices if they are based on issues and facts but if you want to get me fired up tell me your voting a certain way just because everyone in you family does, or you heard something or got an email, or you never watch the news or read a newspaper, or your choice is base on plain and simple ignorance! My husband tells me not to mix my politics and my business because I am so passionate about it!

I know that was more than you wanted to know right!

My New Man

Yes, I have a new man and he has a big....Head! (What did you think I was gonna say?)
My Scarecrow Man! He is a Tennesee Ridge freebie pattern. His round head has 10 peices!

I made some new room sprays today and as some of you suggested, I made Cinnamon Clove. It smells soooo good!

I also made Caramel Apple and Cinnamon Buns! You can find them at MY ETSY!

Good Trade and Some Tips

It all started when I posted this picture of my Sweet Annie, a while back.

I got an email from my sister Joan saying.....dump the Sweet Annie out of that red pitcher, I want it! She said she had some things for me.
She said are these prim enough for you?

Does she Know me or what? I also gave her another red and white pitcher I had.

Speaking of my Sister....here are some tips she sent me in an email:

*Eliminate ear mites. All it takes is a few drops of Wesson Corn Oil in
your cat's ear... massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat
daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites, and
accelerates healing.

*Kills fleas instantly... Dawn Dish washing Liquid does the trick. Add a few
drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to
avoid skin irritations. Good-bye fleas.

*Did you know that drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache
pain almost immediately-without the unpleasant side effects caused by
traditional pain relievers?

*Did you know that Colgate Toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns?

*Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with
mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids
peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.

*Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 tablespoon horseradish in 1 cup
of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a
massage oil for instant relief for aching muscles.

*Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1
tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

*Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets
in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms.
Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost
instantly-even though the product was never been advertised for this use.

*Honey remedy for skin blemishes... cover the blemish with a dab of honey
and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin
sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.

*Listerine therapy for toenail fungus: Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus
by soaking your toes in Listerine Mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic
leaves your toenails looking healthy again.

*Easy eyeglass protection... to prevent the screws in eyeglasses from
loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear Nail Polish to
the threads of the screws before tightening them.

*Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer... if menacing wasps,
hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the
insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground
instantly.

*Smart splinter remover: Just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the
splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter
sticks to the dried glue.

*Hunt's Tomato Paste boil cure... cover the boil with Hunt's Tomato Paste
as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the
boil to a head.

*Balm for broken blisters... to disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few
drops of Listerine, a powerful antiseptic.

*Vinegar to heal bruises... soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply
it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds
up the healing process.

*Quaker Oats for fast pain relief... it's not for breakfast anymore! Mix 2
cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave
for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for
soothing relief from arthritis pain.
