The Death of a Pumpkin

Well, I knew it was only a matter of time before I killed somebody....or something. Yesterday was the day! I had made this really prurddeee pumpkin and had already baked it once and I should have left it alone......but noooooo, I put a little more grunge on it and stuck it back in the oven, well I did not notice my oven was on broil.....yes dead by fire, and I mean Fire! I had to put it out! I was soooooo mad at myself. Anyone interested in a char boiled pumpkin?

Anyway, glad I did not burn these gruby long stemed punkin's!
I like them lined up on the mantle at my shop or in a bowl...

Look I got my swap from Gina at Catnap Inn

Ain't they pretty? I hung them right up at my Kitchen window. Thanks Gina!

I hope everyone has a safe weekend.

Crazy Week

I am so glad to be home today!
The children went back to school, so just getting back into that routine is enough......but of course not all of it. I have had some back and neck issues for the past 2 years, but lately it has been alot worse. So Monday I went back to the Doctor, turns out I have some serious issues that are more than just getting older.
But I am not gonna whine about it right now...but I reserve the right to whine at a later date.
Tuesday I spent the day with my mother at her Doctor preparing for her surgery next week. Yesterday I had to run errands and restock at Walmart(we were out of everything)really I had to have 2 carts! Ladies do you realize how many times we move that stuff before we ever use it? Off the shelf, into the cart, from the cart ...onto the checkout counter...back in the cart....from the cart to the car...from the car to the house and then it all has to be put away! Talk about a pain in the Neck...I was feeling it last night...(I Know no whining)!
Anyway I did get a reward in my mailbox

Need I say more.....this is a wonderful magazine, really it is more than that it is a reference book! I have been a receiving it fro a year now and gets better and better. If you love primitive you must get it. Not only great pics and stories but always free patterns to! Mercantile Gatherings
Thank God for some much needed rain last night. This is the pond in my backyard after the rain...see how low it is.

And let me show you the flowers I got from the clearance rack at Lowes Yesterday
I will cut their little heads off...so they will put on another show for Fall.
The yellow mum was 1$, the others are Coppelia Helen's Flower (perennial) 2$ each.

Kindra Is having a surprise giveaway in honor of her birthday. Go see!
Tammy is also having a great giveaway, 2 Prizes!

Now I must get busy.....I am already 3 days behind!

and I made this game board

Put the finishing touches on these pumpkins

and I sewed up these bats. I will turn and stuff them tonight....It is Friday Movie night. Maybe I can recruit some help, but I doubt it!

Sweet Annie and More!

I am trying a new way I found to preserve my Sweet Annie. I used to cut it and dry it upside down...but it sheds and just does not look as good as other peoples.
So, you stick it in a solution of mineral oil and citric acid for 3-4 days....

...and then hang it up to dry for a few weeks. Have any of you tried this or something else? I'll see how this works out.

Here's a few things I have made in the last few days...

Prairie Clutch Dolls, I made three & already sold one!

Hoot the owl, some big candy corn ornies and two candles I grudged like I did the pumpkin last week. *when doing this you don't have to use beeswax, use paraffin or melt old candles

And some Primitive farm animals!

I have received and award from Tiffany

Thank you....you are a DOLL!
All the blogs I love are in my blog roll, so consider yourself awarded!
Check out these Fall give-a-ways... canadiancountrygal
and country pleasures

Now I have to get ready to go to Golsboro...my son still has to get a bookbag and he needs a haircut! I already warned Mary-Kate not to even look at anything to wear or anything for that matter....she has gotten PLENTY!
Well maybe I will get by my thrift stores and I always need something from Michaels!
Have a great Monday!

Oldie.... But A Goodie

Does anyone remember this picture? It is a Home Interiors picture from over 30 years ago. My SIL had one when I was a child, my aunt had one also.
A while back a friend of mine (who is younger than me) said she was looking for a picture like that. I talked to her the other day and ask if she was still wanted one because I had seen one in the thrift store. She said yes, so I went back to see if they still had it...and they had two of them. So I got both of them.

Today I primmed up the frame of mine a little, and hung it in my LR. I think it is perfect for Fall.

Pumpkin Makeover

Ok, you remember the pumpkin I got yesterday from the thrift store yesterday....kinda cheesey right?

Well, I wanted to grunge it up...so I heated up the beeswax that stays in my crockpot. As with most things I do ...I really don't know what I am gonna do I just do it! So I dipped the pumpkin in the wax...and quickly sprinkled cinnamon on it and rubbed and rubbed and dipped and rubbed some more.

I rubbed my fingers down the groves in the pumpkin so the pumpkin would keep it's shape. The rubbing warms the wax,so you can shape it.
When I was happy with the look, I added the flicker tealight that I had already dipped and grubbed. And....Here it is!

One Happy Customer and some Thrift Store Shopping

I like happy customers and I think Chase was pleased with his new sign, for his cowboy themed room. He is a handsome customer isn't he?

I went to town today so I did a little thrift store shopping...

I got this carved unfinished pineapple for 99 cents

and this red and white wash pan 3$ old rolling pin with red handles $1.99

Look at my old blue suitcase 3$, I got this strip light to go near my sewing machine out in the shop...I think it was 1.99 and this big Fall colors tablecloth .....guess what I am going to do with it!

This pumpkin candle...I want to grunge it up and put one of those little flicker candles in it. I also got the old cutting board 99 cent.

I had to run in Michaels to get some stitching thread and while I was standing in line I saw this little abc stamps in the dollar bin so I grabbed 3 fonts to maybe stamp some of my tags. I had to get a ink pad to.

My niece Stephanie wants some trow pillows for her bed (she likes a little funky!) Hey I can make funky to! Look at this great material I got for her.
Tomorrow we have to do some back to school shopping...I can't believe it is almost time to go back already!

Crow Pie Anyone?

First, I found my camera! I actually lost sleep over it last night.
Now here's my pie, I really like it. It is from a Tennessee Ridge Pattern. I love how prim and skinny the crows are. It smells like...Fall, you know apple cider with cinnamon sticks, and caramel apples...yea, that is what a crow pie smells like!
I am gonna have to make some more of these(cause I am having one), this one is going over to my etsy!
Gotta go, I have apples that need stuffin'!

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.
